Jaguar has officially unveiled the Jaguar Type 01, a dramatic new electric grand tourer that marks the beginning of a completely new era for the British luxury brand.
Revealed in New York on October 6, 2026, the Type 01 is Jaguar’s first production model built on the company’s dedicated Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA). It combines a long, low-slung body with a powerful tri-motor electric powertrain and an unusual four-seat interior.
Jaguar says the Type 01 is designed, developed and built in the UK and represents the first production car created under its new design philosophy.
Jaguar Type 01: A New Beginning
The Type 01 is more than simply a replacement for an existing Jaguar model. The company sees it as the first car of a new generation.
The name itself reflects that strategy. According to Jaguar, “Type” connects the car with the company’s historic Type-named models, while the “0” represents zero tailpipe emissions and the “1” identifies it as the first model of a new generation.
The car follows the radical design direction first previewed by the Jaguar Type 00 concept, but brings that idea into a production vehicle.
Jaguar has deliberately moved away from conventional EV proportions. Instead of a short bonnet and tall cabin, the Type 01 features an extremely long bonnet, dramatic proportions and a low GT silhouette.
More Than 1,000 PS From Three Electric Motors
Performance is expected to be one of the biggest talking points surrounding the new Jaguar.
The Type 01 uses a tri-motor electric powertrain producing more than 1,000 PS and over 1,300 Nm of torque. Jaguar says the powertrain combines high performance with the refined character expected from a luxury grand tourer.

The cabin features a dramatic central spine running from the front of the vehicle to the rear. This separates the cabin into four individual spaces, giving each occupant a more personal environment.
The dashboard has a slim design rather than being dominated by huge conventional screens. Jaguar has also integrated digital technology into the architecture of the cabin, including a ClearSight Rear View Display positioned at the base of the windshield.
The interior was designed around a low driving position and uses a minimalist combination of materials and technology. Jaguar says the design is inspired partly by the natural appearance and texture of travertine stone.
