Mitsubishi has officially unveiled the all-new 2026 Mitsubishi Pajero, bringing back one of the company’s most recognizable SUV names with a completely new design, modern technology and serious off-road capability.
The new Pajero is positioned as Mitsubishi’s flagship SUV and will be produced in Thailand. It is scheduled to arrive in Thailand first, followed by Japan and Australia during fiscal 2026. Mitsubishi also plans to introduce it to around 100 markets from fiscal 2027.
A More Powerful and Premium Pajero
The new Pajero keeps the rugged character that made previous generations popular, but Mitsubishi has given it a much more premium appearance.
The exterior features a tall, squared-off body, muscular fenders and distinctive T-shaped headlights. Several design details also pay tribute to older Pajero models, including the C-pillar and rear styling.
Inside, the SUV gets a modern three-row, seven-seat cabin with large digital displays, premium materials and improved sound insulation. A redesigned version of the classic Pajero multi-meter provides information such as altitude, compass direction and vehicle pitch and roll.
2.4-Liter Diesel and Serious 4WD Hardware
Power comes from a 2.4-liter turbo diesel engine producing up to 480 Nm of torque, paired with a new eight-speed automatic transmission.
Off-road performance remains one of the Pajero’s biggest strengths. The SUV uses a durable ladder frame, independent front suspension and a five-link rear setup. Mitsubishi’s Super Select 4WD-II system offers 2H, 4H, 4HLc and 4LLc modes.
Seven driving modes are also available, including Gravel, Snow, Mud, Sand and Rock.
Built for Everyday Driving Too
Despite its off-road focus, Mitsubishi has designed the new Pajero to be comfortable on normal roads. It offers three-zone climate control, ventilated seats, a large infotainment system and advanced driver-assistance features.
The vehicle also includes an advanced 3D Multi Around Monitor, which can show the area around the SUV and even provide a view beneath the front of the vehicle when driving over difficult terrain.
The Pajero Is Back
The original Pajero launched in 1982 and became one of Mitsubishi’s most important models, particularly during Japan’s SUV and RV boom. After the previous generation ended production, the Pajero name disappeared from Mitsubishi’s lineup for several years.
Now, the 2026 Mitsubishi Pajero returns as a larger, more refined and technology-focused flagship SUV while retaining the rugged identity that made the name famous.
With its diesel powertrain, advanced 4WD system, seven-seat practicality and premium interior, the new Pajero could become one of Mitsubishi’s most important global models in years.
